The new Bauhaus Museum is a spiral-like structure, climbing up alongside the park and turning at Kavalierstraße towards its highest point in order to cover the main entrance on Friedrichstraße. The two arms of the building enclose a glazed central hall, the main foyer of the museum. From there the various parts of the museum, visitors' services as wardrobe, ticketing etc. and museum education facilities can be accessed. Event space and workshop rooms are facing Kavalierstraße. Special events can make use of the exterior space underneath the cantilever roof of the entrance. Restaurant and administration are on the opposite side, enjoying the orientation towards the park.
A pair of running stairs from the main foyer connect the visitors to the permanent and temporary exhibition on the first floor. Located together, both exhibitions can flexible exchange their spaces. The Bauhaus collection will be shown on gradually rising levels of the building.
The roof of the museum is accessible for the public. Its green roof continues the landscaping of the park combining great views of the city with potential for exterior exhibitions. Thus the museum returns to the public the surface of the park that it occupies.
Delivery vans enter the delivery hall via the park at the south end of the museum. All logistic spaces are functionally organized around the delivery hall where a large platform lift is located. If needed delivery vans could also leave the building by the Kavalierstraße.
The central hall of the foyer is a steel-glass construction whereas the more solid appearance of the spiral-like structure around the hall is made of concrete construction cladded with natural stone.

Das neue Bauhaus Museum ist eine spiralartige Konstruktion, die entlang der Parkseite empor klettert, an der Kavalierstraße in Richtung ihres höchsten Punktes wendet um an der Friedrichstraße den Haupteingang zu überdecken. Die zwei Flügel des Gebäudes umfassen eine gläserne, zentrale Halle, das Hauptfoyer des Museums. Von hier werden die verschiedenen Teile des Museums, Besucherservice mit Garderobe und Ticketverkauf etc. sowie museumspädagogische Einrichtungen erschlossen. Veranstaltungs- und Workshopräume sind der Kavalierstraße zugewandt. Sonderveranstaltungen können den Außenraum unter dem überkragenden Dach des Eingangs mitbenutzen. Restaurant und Museumsverwaltung sind auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite, und erfreuen sich der Orientierung zum Park.
Eine Rolltreppenanlage vom Hauptfoyer führt den Besucher zur Ständigen Sammlung und Wechselausstellung im 1. Geschoss. Zusammen verortet können beide Ausstellungen flexibel Räumlichkeiten untereinander austauschen. Die Bauhaus Sammlung wird auf stufenweise ansteigenden Ebenen des Gebäudes gezeigt.
Das Dach des Museums ist öffentlich zugänglich. Das begrünte Dach setzt die Landschaft des Parks fort und verbindet spektakuläre Aussichten auf die Stadt mit dem Potenzial für Ausstellungen im Freien. Auf diese Weise gibt das Museum der Öffentlichkeit die Oberfläche des Parks zurück, die es besetzt.
Lieferfahrzeuge fahren durch den Park zur Anlieferungshalle am südlichen Ende des Museums. Alle logistischen Räume sind funktional um die Anlieferungshalle angeordnet in der ein großer Lastenaufzug vorgesehen wird. Falls nötig könnten Lieferfahrzeuge das Gebäude auch zur Kavalierstraße hin verlassen.
Die zentrale Halle des Foyers ist eine leichte Stahl-Glaskonstruktion, während die eher massive Erscheinung der spiralartigen Struktur um die Halle herum eine Betonkonstruktion ist, die mit Naturstein bekleidet wird.
